Concentric circles in yellow bring to life this blue dance mask from the Luba or Baluba people of the Democratic Republic of Congo. Couples wear similar masks when they dance, as it represents the spirit which connects the world to the spirit world. Working with sese wood, Christopher Nyasafo hand-carves this impressive replica mask featuring a long lean nose and half-closed eyes.
